Premium Lens Implants

The advances in intraocular lens technology have made it possible to dramatically increase a patient’s ability to see after cataract surgery. Previously, lens implants were only monofocal, meaning that the lenses could only allow people to see at one distance, either near, intermediate, or far. With monofocal lens implants cataract patients required glasses after surgery. Now, with premium lens implants like ReSTOR, Crystalens, ReZOOM, and Tecnis cataract patients are able to greatly reduce or even eliminate their dependence on glasses!

How do Multifocal IOL’s work?

Our eyes are always adjusting and constantly focusing on objects up close, far away, and in between. The ability for our eyes to change focus from far away to close up is called accommodation. As we get older this ability decreases and we become dependent on bifocals or reading glasses. Premium lens implants are designed to provide quality vision at a range of distances by combining the strengths of different technologies.

It is important to select the right premium lens implant to meet your specific vision needs. Dr. Benaim will be able to discuss your lens options and work with you to select one that fits your lifestyle.

ReSTOR

The ReSTOR® lens is an artificial lens to replace the natural lens of the eye that is removed during cataract surgery. It is made of a flexible material that allows the lens to focus light on the retina for clear vision at near, far, and intermediate distances. ReSTOR® can affect the quality of vision, providing patients with clear images at all distances, and increase the quantity of vision by allowing you to see at all distances.

ReSTOR® is a lens that will help treat patients suffering from presbyopia and from cataracts. The ideal candidate for ReSTOR lenses is someone who is seeking better vision at all distances, and wants to reduce, and possibly eliminate their dependence on glasses.

Crystalens

Crystalens® is an accommodating IOL that actually changes position inside the eye as it changes the focal point. Crystalens® is designed to be an artificial lens to replace the eye’s natural lens. It is beneficial for people who want to be able to see without depending on their glasses after cataract surgery, or for those who want better vision through a clear lens exchange procedure.

The Crystalens IOL is designed to work on a hinge, which allows the optic, or the part of the IOL that you see through, to move back and forth as your eye constricts and relaxes, just like a natural lens. This provides a continuous range of vision at far, intermediate, and near distances.

ReZOOM

The ReZOOM multifocal IOL is designed to give patients a better range of vision after surgery. The ReZOOM technology distributes light over five different optic zones so that each lens has a distance-dominate central zone for vision in bright light. With five separate visual zones, designed to work with varying light conditions, ReZOOM gives people the ability to see at far, near, and intermediate distances.

ReZOOM is designed to provide excellent intermediate and distance vision, and is a great choice for patients who value distance vision, especially while driving, and want the ability to use the computer or read print without glasses. If you have trouble reading and may need bifocals, or if you notice your vision is becoming increasingly blurred, ReZOOM multifocal lens may be able to help.

Tecnis

The Tecnis multifocal lens is designed to give patients the ability to see at any distance, and at any level of light, especially lower light. While Tecnis provides the same vision correction after cataract surgery for presbyopia, as other premium lens implants, it also gives you this vision correction at all light levels, which is something not all premium lens implants can provide.

If you are suffering from cataracts and have difficulty reading, seeing objects up close, or are having trouble driving especially at night, the Tecnis multifocal lens may be an option that is right for your vision needs.

See Better After Cataract Surgery

Cataract patients now have an option to see at both near and far distances after cataract surgery! Individuals suffering from cataracts previously had only a mono-focal lens implant option after surgery. NEW premium lens implant technology can now decrease dependence on glasses after surgery. If you are seeking the ReSTOR® or ReZOOM® IOL lens options in Florida Dr. Benaim can help you decide if this option is right for you! Dr. Monroe Benaim also has an accommodating IOL option known as the Crystalens®.
